Krabi is old.
Life has been around Krabi for a long time, and it
shows. Remains of Cro-Magnon man (women are never mentioned!), from 25-35,000
BC have been found in caves scattered across the province. Some of the oldest homo sapiens bones around. And, the
Shell Cemetery, between Krabi Town and Ao Nang district, boasts that its
gastropods are 75 million years old, making them among the oldest shell fossils
on earth.
Krabi has the longest documented history of human
inhabitation in Thailand.
Once you travel through the area, you will understand
why, for eons, living creatures have wanted to hang out in Krabi. It’s a great
place!
